Homa-bay governor Cyprian Awiti yesterday had hard time addressing a rally at Waondo in Homa-bay County during Hon. Raila’s visit to the county yesterday.
Hon. Awiti who was the host was booed while he was addressing the crowd that was busy chanting and throwing bottles at the podium where the Cord leader and other ODM party officials were.
Efforts by the Governor together with the ODM party chair John M’badi to quell the tension were however futile as the crowd became more hostile and unbearable to the governor.
The crowd accused him of alleged theft of public funds following the recent auditor general’s report that is in the public domain.
As if that was not enough, the governor latter met the wrath of the residents at Homabay stadium where his convoy was pelt with stones as he attempted to access the place where the ODM leader Rala Odinga and other dignitaries were expected to address a rally.
Awiti becomes the second governor in Luo Nyanza to face the wrath of the electorates in the
presence of the hon. Raila after his Migori Counterpart.
