DR LABOSO ADVISED TO SHIFT HER POLITICAL BASE TO NYANZA AND VIE FOR KISUMU GUBERNATORIAL SEAT IN 2017.

BY PETER MUTAI

KISUMU County Governor Jack Ranguma and ODM chairman John Mbadi caused a storm in Bomet over the weekend with calls to National Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr Joyce Laboso to shift her political base to Nyanza and vie for Kisumu Gubernatorial seat come 2017.
Ranguma said the Sotik MP was more qualified to vie for gubernatorial seat in Kisumu County as compared to Bomet saying her matrimonial home is in Upper Nyakach, Kisumu County.
He said Dr Laboso was welcomed to Kisumu County and told her that she was free to oppose him in 2017 General Elections in the gubernatorial seat.
Ranguma said according to the African customs, a woman should hold elective positions or seek elective seats where they are married to.
"Joyce,  I am your Governor and if you are interested to run for governorship position in next year's elections,  I invite you to come to Kisumu, but brace yourself for a gruelling  political contest," Ranguma said.
On his part,  Mbadi said Laboso whom he described as "Shemeji" was welcomed to join Nyanza politics and told her to leave Bomet politics to Ruto saying the Sotik MP's matrimonial home was in Kisumu County.
The two made the remarks on Sunday at Bomet IAAF Stadium during prayers held for Bomet Governor H.E Isaac Ruto who returned home last week from South Africa after undergoing successful medical treatment for injuries he sustained at Silibwet stadium during a football Match.
The function was attended by several leaders including Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, WIPER leader Kalonzo Musyoka, KANU chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, MPs Zakayo Cheruiyot, Johana Ngeno and Sakwa Munyasi, former MPs Nick Salat and Anthony Kimetho among other dignitaries.
