Bomet
County Government today commissioned the state-of-the art eye unit hospital at
Longisa County Referral Hospital.
The
construction and equipping of the unit was funded by the Federal Ministry for
Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany with the collaboration of Deutsches
Blindenhilfswerk (DBHW) through a Kenyan based NGO-Salus Oculi at the cost of
Kshs 58.9 million.
The
facility was officially opened by H.E Governor Isaac Ruto in a colorful
ceremony held at the Referral Hospital ground. The county Government gave land
on which the unit stands.
The
facility will serve residents of Bomet County and its neighboring Counties who
have various eye ailments, making cases of patients with eye problem being
referred to other hospitals a thing of the past.
During
the function, Governor Ruto who was accompanied by Ms Simone Henzler from DBHW
also received an assortment of medical equipments donated by Friends of Bomet
County from Middle East Broadcasting Corporation worth more than Kshs 120
million which will be distributed to all Sub-County hospitals within the
county.
Area
residents Led by the hospital's Board of management thanked Governor Ruto for
his tireless efforts of prioritizing medical services within the county.
